Always match speed with your target if your target is a fighter. Nothing damages your fighter more than flying into your target.
Before each mission, load up on missiles with seeker heads. It's a lot easier to take down enemy fighters with missiles that follow the target.
Make sure to use your wingmen properly; this can make the difference between success and failure in a mission.
